＜今回は、翻訳事務所Cherry tomatoを設立する前に働いていた会社、トヨタ自動車での思い出について英語／日本語で日記を書いてみました。英語学習者の参考になれば幸いです。＞

How are you doing these days? I’m pretty good!

Sometimes you look over the old pictures stored in your cell phone, don’t you?＾▽＾ Recently, I did it and found some pictures of when I had worked at a major automaker, TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION before I started my own business!!Σ（゜０゜） As you know, I guess TOYOTA is one of the world’s largest company. I worked at TOYOTA headquaters in Toyota city, Aichi prefecture before! I can’t believe it!! It has a vast site!! While I worked there for some years, I learned a lot of things, such as how to do the work, how to troubleshoot and how to proceed with vehicle development. To be honest, I had been a student with a major in the school of humanities and I hadn’t been interested in cars before then. So I had no idea even what kinds of cars TOYOTA develops. But why did I work at TOYOTA!? The reason is that I can use English. Television conferences between the members in North America and us were held regularly, and in such meetings I interpreted for the members who attended the meeting every time. And exchanging emails or phone calls with the members in North America and translating reports in Japanese into English were also my jobs. I had really rough days in those days. Especially, when it came to a television conference, we had to work until late or go to work early in the morning because there was about a 13 hour time difference between Japan and North America… It was so hard, but I loved the job, so it was so much fun!＾▽＾ Those were the good old days♪
And my greatest enjoyment was going for a drink with foreigners working with me! I know it is also fun to have a drink party with Japanese people, but I really like having a drink party with foreigners because I can learn a lot from talking with them in English♪＾▽＾ And their funny sides can be found, too. For example, they ate green soybeans(edamame) with the skin on by mistake and suffered from wasabi and didn’t know how to pick sushi dishes up at a conveyor belt sushi, which means a kaiten sushi restaurant. 🙂
These pictures bring back many memories of those days♪

携帯電話に保存されているこれまでの写真を見返すことってありますよね？＾▽＾　最近私も見返してみました。すると、弊社を設立する前に働いていたあの大手自動車メーカー「トヨタ自動車」時代の写真が入っていました！！Σ（゜０゜）　みなさんもご存じのとおり、トヨタ自動車株式会社と言えば世界一の企業のひとつだと思います。そして私は以前、愛知県豊田市トヨタ町１番地にあるトヨタ本社で勤務していました！信じられない！！　ものすごく広い敷地です！！　数年間そこで働いている間にいろいろなことを学びました。仕事のやり方やトラブルの対処法、車開発の進め方。正直、私は文系で、それまで車に一切興味がありませんでした。トヨタが出している車の種類もわからなかったぐらいです。そんな私がなぜトヨタに！？それは英語が話せたからです。北米の工場とのTV会議が定期的に行われており、そのたびに通訳をしておりました。また、北米との電話やメールでのやりとりや報告書を英語に翻訳したりもしていました。ものすごくハードな日々でした。特にTV会議においては、北米との時差がおよそ１３時間ありましたので、夜遅くまで残業したり朝早出をしたり。。　でも好きな仕事だったのでしんどかったですが、とても楽しかったです！＾▽＾　今となれば良い思い出ですね♪　
そして、一番の楽しみはいっしょに働いている外国人たちとの飲み会です！　もちろん日本人同士の飲み会も楽しいのですが、外国人と行くといろいろ英語で会話するので英語の勉強になるじゃないですかぁ♪＾▽＾　あと外国人のおもしろい部分が見えたりします。枝豆を皮ごと食べたり、ワサビに悶えていたり、回転寿司で寿司の取り方がわからなかったり（笑）。
これらの写真を見ているとその時の思い出がたくさん蘇ってきます♪
またいつか会えたらなぁ（≧＿≦）
